I am a quiltmaker. Over the years I have slopped dye onto fabric and discovered I love the accident and the unexpected. I have stitched and stitched with machine, by hand, and with mega machine—my longarm, Millie—and have discovered that I love the errant line, the intuitive following of a muscle memory. In looking for my voice, I have discovered a boundless trove of experiences that has given me the quiet subject matter I explore.
I like being a quiltmaker. There is comfort in the doing. There is understanding in the doing. And I love the feeling of not knowing “how” I am going to do it, but being eager to jump in and find out. All the doors are open to me, ready to explore.
